Bombay mahal

1001 Jean Talon St W, Montreal, QC H3N 1T2 ‎

Indian food is always a safe best. There is often a number of lamb, chicken and fish dishes as well as countless veggie options. Bombay Mahal is very popular and for a good reason, it’s FREAKING good. It’s also BYOB, so enjoy a nice bottle of wine and a great meal without breaking the budget.  My favourite dish is Baingan Bartha which is basically roasted eggplant cooked to perfection. If you are down with dairy, you’ve also got to try to Palak Paneer.

Food: 4.5/5 – Yummy!
Service: 3.5/5  – Sassy waiters with character, just go with it. It may be a little slow at times but it’s totally worth it.
Ambience: 3/5  – Not fancy, slightly and packed on weekends. Eclectic crowd of  hipster types, indian families and tourists.
Price: CHEAP! Eat your heart out for $10 – 15 and $20-25 you won’t be able to walk.
Vegan options: Lots!

Restaurant SU

5145 Wellington St, Verdun, QC H4G 1Y2

Turkish restaurant Su brings fine dining to the veggie world. Since the majority of Montreal’s  fine dining options tend to be VERY meat heavy,  it can often be difficult for a vegetarian to have a classy dinner out. Su is lovely. The decor is minimalist and elegant, the service is spectacular and the food is delicious. Most of the mains are meat dishes but they have a fantastic homemade ravioli stuffed with lentils. I highly recommend getting the mixed appetizer plate which can be made vegetarian. This is a GREAT date place.

Food: 4.5/5 – Really yummy, great presentation.
Service: 5/5  – Excellent!
Ambience: 4.5/5  – Stylish, good crowd.
Price: $35 – 50 per person, not including drinks!
Vegan options: Not much.

La Sala Rossa

4848 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2T 1R5

When I used to hear Spanish tapas, I’d instantly think “Um, so NOT going!” Why? Well,  a lot of tapas restaurants don’t feature many vegetarian options. Since tapas are mean’t to be shared, as a vegetarian you barely eat anything and are expected to foot the bill. No thanks! La Sala Rossa on the other hand has a whole array of vegetarian options so you are guaranteed to leave there feeling satisfied. This place is very popular and often you can hear a live band playing in the distance. If you go, you must order the honey goat cheese balls, they are delectable.

Food: 3.5/5 – Pretty tasty.
Service: 3/5  – Can be a bit slow
Ambience: 4/5  – Fun! Located in the plateau with lots of young hip people.
Price: $20 – 35 per person , not including drinks!
Vegan options: Lots!

Wellington

One of the few French restaurants that has a fantastic vegetarian main course. I’ve had it and it’s delicious but be sure to call ahead and make sure that they are making it that night.
